Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were married at Chateau Miraval, their 1,200 acre estate in Correns, France on August 23, 2014.
The ceremony began around 11:30am. The bride walked down the aisle on the arms of her eldest sons, Maddox and Pax. Daughters Zahara and Vivienne tossed pink flower petals gathered from the garden. Daughter Shiloh and son Knox served as ring bearers.
The groom wore a tie, borrowed from one of his sons.
The 20 assembled guests hummed the traditional processional tune “Here Comes the Bride” as Jolie made her entrance.
The couple exchanged self-written vows, penned by their children. The ceremony was officiated by retired California judge John Ouderkirk. The wedding bands, by Robert Procop, were also presented during the non-denominational ceremony.
Jolie’s wedding dress, by Atelier Versace and master tailor Luigi Massi, was a silk-satin gown featuring bold embroidery and colorful drawings created by her children. The gown had a natural waist, full skirt and elongated train.
As a tribute to the bride’s late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, a stone in the chapel was engraved in remembrance. Jolie also wore a flower ring belonging to her mother. Her brother, James Haven, wore an angel pin from their mother’s jewelry box.
Following the ceremony, a picnic took place where BBQ style food was served and everyone toasted with the couple’s Miraval rose.
For dessert, Pax and his friends baked and decorated a multi tiered wedding cake. Sorbets and chocolate and vanilla ice cream were also served.
The couple honeymooned for at their home in France. Five days after the wedding, they were back to work in Malta on their movie “By the Sea.”
