Edward Burns married Christy Turlington on June 7, 2003 in San Francisco, California. The couple originally planned their wedding for October 2001 but postponed it after 9/11. Soon after, they broke up.
After reconciling, they married two years later at St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in the North Beach section of San Francisco. Christy gave herself away, walking halfway down the aisle on her own until she met her groom. They walked the remaining steps together.
Contrary to popular belief, U2 frontman Bono did not give Christy away. Although he was a guest at the wedding, along with other A-listers like Sting and Vin Diesel.
The bride wore an empire waist John Galliano silk-and-lace, cap-sleeved gown, along with a $250,000 diamond Riviera necklace on loan from Jacob and Co. She was pregnant with the couple’s first child at the time.
The traditional Catholic ceremony featured two flower girls, four ring bearers and a seven-person choir.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Asian Art Museum‘s Samsung Hall. The couple shared their first dance to Bruce Springsteen’s “If I Should Fall Behind” and celebrated with guests until 5 a.m.
They honeymooned at Las Alamandas Resort in Mexico.
