Gwen Stefani Donates Wedding Dress to Victoria and Albert Museum

Gwen Stefani has donated her pink silk faille John Galliano wedding dress to the Victoria and Albert museum. Stefani says the dress is a work of art and needed to be seen.

Who could forget Gwen Stefani’s pink silk faille John Galliano wedding dress from her 2002 wedding to Gavin Rossdale? The singer has revealed she donated the iconic gown to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

“I didn’t wanna send it because I was scared it would get ruined,” Stefani tells her best pal Shirley Manson in an interview in the April issue of Elle UK. “But it’s a work of art, it needed to be seen.”

Stefani says looking back over the years, her wedding dress is something she knows she looked good in.

“When I got engaged and someone told me that John said he would make my dress, I was like really? I said I wanted it to be over the top, but not traditional – I wanted it to be everything,” she explains. “But how do you tell this genius over the phone? He was, like, OK, and sent me these drawings of this unbelievable, perfect dress.”

Gwen and Gavin were married in a traditional Anglican wedding at St. Paul’s Church Covent Garden on September 14, 2002.
