Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are celebrating 12 years of marriage today.
The couple were married in a secret wedding ceremony on May 19, 2007 at Angel Oresanz Synagogue in New York. They invited unsuspecting guests to a party and surprised them with a wedding ceremony.
Sarah wore a black wedding dress in a bid to escape unwanted media attention. She later said she regrets wearing black, and if the couple ever renew their vows, she will be wearing white. “I’d wear a beautiful, proper wedding dress, like I should have worn that day,” she says.
The couple have dodged marriage rumors over the last several months, but Sarah recently said the part of being married is, “being married.”
She went on to explain that being private is key to a happy marriage. “Actually, it’s not hard to be a private couple,” she says. “We try not to talk about the relationship. It’s not that we’re not proud; it’s just that’s the kiss of death.”
Parker and Broderick recently announced they are expecting twin daughters via a surrogate mother this summer.
