Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson celebrated their engagement with a party on Thursday evening at Simpson’s parents home. The couple were joined by 50 friends and enjoyed pizza and finger foods courtesy of La Loggia Italian Bistro.
Jessica was on “The Early Show” Monday morning and discussed her engagement for the first time with Harry Smith.
“I had to sit on his knee I was shocked,” she says of Johnson’s proposal at her Los Angeles home. “To really get what was happening. I first said ‘Yes!’ I didn’t even try the ring on until 5 minutes in. I just sat there and cried with him.”
Simpson says she loves the unconventional Neil Lane ruby engagement ring her fiance proposed with.
“I’ve already done the traditional thing,” she says, referring to the pear-shaped engagement ring given to her by ex-husband Nick Lachey. “I wanted to do something that was different.”
