Kate Beckinsale married Len Wiseman on May 9, 2004 at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, California. Fifty guests were in attendance for the evening ceremony, including Beckinsale’s “Underworld” co-star, Scott Speedman.
The 6 p.m. vows were planned by Mindy Weiss and took place in a garden under a rose covered gazebo with hanging votive candles.
Before the nuptials began, “Morning Has Broken” by Cat Stevens was played in honor of Kate’s late father, Richard Beckinsale. Soon after, she made her entrance in a strapless Vera Wang gown, with a trumpet skirt, paired with a Neil Lane diamond tiara and diamond bow earrings. The four bridesmaids also wore Vera Wang dresses in pale pink. Kate’s daughter, Lily Sheen, served as flower girl and was given her own wedding ring by the groom to make her feel included.
Following the vows, a string quartet performed while guests enjoyed champagne in the garden next to a swan-filled pond. As night fell, a reception began in a candlelit ballroom.
The couple shared their first dance to Coldplay’s “The Scientist,” before guests were seated at tables with centerpieces of white roses, hydrangeas and tulips. Dinner was served with a menu of mushroom ravioli, grilled beef, truffle potatoes and a chocolate fondue fountain.
The highlight of the night came when the guests simultaneously broke into song, with British guests singing “God Save The Queen” and Americans singing “God Bless America.”
The couple honeymooned at Las Ventanas in Cabo San Lucas.
