Kate Coppola, one half of identical twin country music duo Kate and Kacey, married Billy Leiva on September 26, 2009. The wedding took place in Kate’s parents’ backyard in Denver, Colorado in front of 200 guests.
The bride walked down the aisle in a strapless Alvina Valenta wedding dress with a bustled skirt and shoes by Michael Kors. She carried a mixed bouquet of roses, orchids and fresh lavender.
The seven bridesmaids, including Kate’s identical twin sister Kacey, wore purple strapless dresses by Jim Hjelm.
During the ceremony, the couple exchanged a combination of self-written and traditional vows. Then Kacey performed without Kate for the first time ever, singing Keith Urban’s “Memories of Us” and “To Know Love” by Little Big Town.
Following the nuptials, a tented reception was held at dusk. The couple shared their first dance to Van Morrison’s “Tupelo Honey” and then danced simultaneously with Kate’s dad and Billy’s mom to Frank Sinatra’s “That’s All.”
For dinner, Three Tomatoes Catering served a dinner menu of Caesar salad, penne pasta with pesto and pancetta sauce, lemon chicken with capers and buffalo flank steak. For dessert, a three-tiered wedding cake by Child’s Bakery was served with layers of marble cake with fudge filling and cinnamon spice cake with Bavarian cream filling. Around the edge of the cake, the lyrics of Kenny Chesney’s song “Anything but Mine” were written.
The highlight of the night came after Kate’s two of maid of honors, sisters Kara and Kasey, gave a beautiful toast.
Kate, who had performed at numerous family members weddings, had always joked that the people she had sung for would one day return the favor and sing at her wedding. Her sisters made her dream come to life when they surprised everyone by passing out lyric sheets and leading a rendition of “That’s Amore” which everyone sang together.
At the end of the evening, guests took home small wooden tea light candle holders handmade by a family friend.
The newlyweds honeymooned at Turtle Bay Resort in Hawaii.
