Wedding dresses inspired by Kate Middleton’s Alexander McQueen wedding dress are already hitting stores. Although it’s only been a few days since the royal wedding, Duchess Catherine’s dress has already become a major trendsetter. Here is a breakdown of the best finds:
ABS – Just 12 hours after the royal wedding, designer Allen B. Schwartz’s team of 35 created a dress resembling Middleton’s. Available at Lord and Taylor stores in July, the dress will retail for $800. The ABS brand will also be creating a Pippa Middleton look a like dress.
Faviana – Also known for replicating celebrity dresses, Faviana designer Shala Moradi started work on her Middleton inspired dress, called Princess Kate, as soon as the bride stepped out of her Rolls Royce at Westminster Abbey. The gown is made of satin and chiffon French lace and will retail for under $2,000.
Michelle and Henry Roth – The couture designers examined every detail of Duchess Catherine’s dress as they came up with a sketch, chose the perfect fabric and then began draping and pinning the garment in their studio. Seamstresses worked around the clock to finish “The Kate” which will be sold exclusively at Kleinfeld in New York.
Le Star – Bridal designer Angel Le whipped up a $1,500 lace and Italian satin replica of Middleton’s dress overnight to sell at her store in Alexandria, Virginia. Le’s dress has a mermaid skirt which she says is more popular among brides than Middleton’s full ball gown.
Jane Yeh – This New Zealand bridal wear designer recreated Kate’s gown in 14 hours. A royal replica dress tour is currently being held at Farmer’s stores across New Zealand where the gown is being modeled by a Middleton look-a-like.
