Melissa Joan Hart wed Mark Wilkerson on July 19, 2004 at the Grand Hotel Villa Cora in Florence, Italy.
The 6 p.m. ceremony took place in the hotel’s banquet room in front of 90 guests, including Hart’s childhood friend, Soleil Moon Frye.
The bride walked down the aisle wearing a strapless Reem Acra gown and clutching a bouquet of purple flowers. Her younger sister, Ali, played piano and performed a song from a music box belonging to Melissa’s late grandmother.
The 40-minute ceremony was officiated by the groom’s pastor from his hometown in Alabama. The couple cried as they recited their vows at an altar of cream and white roses wrapped around two columns. The event was designed by Jackson Lowell.
Following the vows, the wedding party took a post-nuptial promenade through the grounds of the hotel, waving purple and white streamers in the air.
They returned for an outdoor reception held poolside, where votive candles hung in jars from a gazebo.
For their first dance, the couple performed a choreographed routine to “Never Tear Us Apart” by INXS before being seated for dinner. The meal was served at long rectangular tables and included a menu of zucchini stuffed with penne alfredo and veal crusted in pastry and pineapple boats.
For dessert, the couple sliced into a three-tier pistachio cake as “Truly Scrumptious” from “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” played in the background.
Afterward, guests hit the dance floor for classic party songs, played by a DJ, until 2 a.m.
Following their wedding night at the Grand Hotel Villa Cora, the couple honeymooned in Ireland, Scotland and England.
