Prince Rogers Nelson married his backup dancer Mayte Garcia on Februay 14, 1996.
The Valentine’s Day wedding took place at Park Avenue United Methodist Church in Prince’s hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The 3 p.m. nuptials were officiated by Rev. Keith Johnson.
As guests entered the church, The New Power Generation performed Kamasutra, a song Prince wrote for the wedding.
The bride wore a long sleeved drop waist white dress, which she designed with Prince’s wardrobe designer Bonnie Flesland. The dress was crystal encrusted and backless with a high low skirt.
In her hair was a flower crown with a veil attached at the back.
As they exchanged vows, Mayte held a necklace with Prince’s glyph.
At the conclusion of the 30 minute ceremony, white doves were released.
The newlyweds departed in a white limousine for the reception.
They honeymooned in Hawaii and Prince performed at the Blaisdell Center.
