What do you get the royal couple on their wedding day? Prince William and Kate Middleton have opted for a no gift policy, instead asking for donations to a newly created charitable gift fund.

“The fund will focus on assisting charities which support the five causes chosen by the couple,” a statement on their website says. “These causes are close to their hearts and reflect the experiences, passions and values of their lives so far. Having been touched by the goodwill shown to them since their engagement, they have asked that anyone wishing to send them a wedding gift consider doing so in the form of a donation to the fund.”

Charity registries are becoming increasingly popular among celebrities of all types. Nicole Kidman, Christina Aguilera, Eva Longoria and Nicole Richie all asked for donations on their wedding days. Sites like I Do Foundation or Just Give make it easy to do so.
