Gold embossed invitations to the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton have been sent out to 1,900 guests.
The 10 inch by 6 inch cards are bevelled, gilded and stamped with EIIR, the Queen’s insignia. Black text on the card states that the Lord Chamberlain “has been commanded by the Queen” to invite the holder to the wedding on April 29 at Westminster Abbey.
For the dress code, gentlemen are asked to wear uniforms, morning coats or lounge suits. A dress code for female guests is not specified, although ladies will be required to wear a hat for the wedding service.
Among those expected are prime ministers from around the world, charity leaders and close friends of the couple.
Following the vows, the Queen will host a brunch at Buckingham Palace.
